Equality in Divine Conversation
A person can speak with God as an equal when true qualities of meekness, prudence, and wisdom dwell within his soul, and when he sincerely responds to God’s call and embraces sacred communion. In one of the texts it is stated: "Not by might, it is said, but by truth. Therefore, do not shout in discussions or get worked up; rather, be meek and prudent. Be wise like a serpent and gentle like doves. Speak for yourselves, but also allow others to speak.
Do the words of your interlocutors irritate you?Arm yourselves with patience." Because it is God Himself who calls us to this communion... I have chosen you as the best of people. And wisdom says: approach Me, all who desire Me, and be filled with My sweetness..." It is the inner richness, the ability to hear and understand God’s word, and sincerity before Him that forms the foundation of an equal dialogue with God.
