The Transformative Power of Humility and Repentance
According to the view presented, God prefers that people ask and repent because true spiritual development begins with an awareness of one’s own weakness and the recognition that without Divine power, man is nothing. Instead of relying on their apparent strength and courage, a person who acknowledges his weakness through prayer and repentance opens the heart to receiving God’s grace.
As stated in one of the excerpts:"Why is humility so terrifying for the devil? Why is humility so beloved to God? The devil, before becoming the devil, was the highest of God’s angels, God’s highest creation, but he became proud, envied God, and desired to take His place, equal to Him. And as soon as he became proud, he immediately fell from heaven, because in heaven relationships can exist only with mutual humility and love. God Himself possesses this quality – humility – in the highest degree. One saint said that humility is the garment of Divinity. And indeed, we can learn from our own life experience how the Lord conducts Himself toward His creations."(source: link txt)Thus, God wants that when a person, faced with difficulties, ceases to rely on his own strength and instead turns to Him, realizing that it is precisely this humility and repentance that open the path to true help and transformation. When a person comes to understand that his own efforts are limited, he begins to rely on God, for "God's power is made perfect in weakness." This turning to God and the acknowledgment of one’s vulnerabilities contributes to strengthening faith and deepening spiritual relationships, something that cannot be achieved when one relies solely on personal strength and courage.
