Innate Divine Connection: Unveiling Pre-Scriptural Revelation
According to the Protestant view, before the prophet Moses began writing the sacred scripture, the knowledge of God was achieved through direct communication with Him and through an inner connection instilled by the Creator. In other words, people were originally in a state where God Himself served as their first Mentor and Teacher, revealing His will to them through direct revelations. For example, one source states:"Having created man, the Creator did not abandon the original people to His own devices. The grace of God constantly dwelt in our ancestors, serving them—as the Holy Fathers put it—like a heavenly garment. They possessed a perfect sense of God’s nearness. God Himself was their first Mentor and Teacher, bestowing upon them His direct revelations. By appearing to them, He conversed and disclosed His will. The Book of Genesis in chapters 2–3 presents to us the life of the first people. God placed Adam and Eve in paradise, or the Edenic garden—a 'paradise of sweetness'—where He grew every tree that was pleasing to the eye and good for food, commanding them to cultivate and guard it." Evidently, there is something in human nature—like a magnet—that draws one upward into the realm of the invisible and the perfect. The Sacred Scripture calls this 'something' the 'image and likeness of God' in man, which the Creator has imprinted at the very core of our spiritual essence (Gen. 1:27). Only the existence of this kinship between the soul and its Creator can explain why people, even without any formal religious education and under the most adverse conditions, gradually develop quite accurate perceptions of God." This ability was orchestrated by the Creator Himself through direct revelations, personal communication, and the indwelling image of God within man that naturally leads him toward the Supreme Being. The prophet Moses and the sacred scripture later evolved as a development of this mindset, codifying and transmitting the already existing revelation in written form.
