Television's Oversight of the Great Lent

In essence, television does not give proper attention to the Great Lent for two main reasons. The first reason is that the audience's demand for religious content is quite low, and most TV channel producers do not see the economic or engaging value in creating programs devoted to this subject. The second reason involves the nature of modern television, which focuses on producing dynamic content that can constantly hold the viewer’s attention and evoke emotional tension. This format is in sharp contrast to the atmosphere of the Lenten period, which requires solitude, concentration, and inner silence. This explains why such broadcasts are found almost exclusively on specialized channels like SPAS.

"Religious-themed programs on channels outside of the specialized SPAS channel are extremely rare. This is due to two main reasons. The first is the low demand for such content among the broad television audience. The second is the lack of interest among most channel producers." (source: link txt)

"Thus, it is impossible to divide our lives between the luminous sorrow of the Great Lent and the experience of a trendy film or performance. Modern television is focused on constantly keeping the viewer in suspense, which makes it difficult to achieve inner peace and concentrate on spiritual development. This is one of the reasons why the Great Lent is covered only on religious channels." (source: link txt)
