Mythic Origins: Divine Blood and Cosmic Order

The conflict between humans and gods in the First Age originates from the most mythological foundation of the world's structure, when the gods, through their actions, established the contradictory nature of human beings. In “The Tale of Atrahasis,” an event is described in which the primordial goddess Tiamat plotted to destroy her children, leading to a rebellion—the gods rose against her, and after her demise, the only defender of Tiamat, the god Kingu, was executed. It was Kingu’s blood that was incorporated into clay, from which humans were created:

“Thus it turned out that a god’s blood flows in the clay body of man…” (source: link txt).

This explains why human nature bears the imprint of divine origin from the very beginning—a mark that has become both the source of internal discord and conflict: humans are endowed with a fragment of divine power, yet this power also serves as a reminder of ancient strife and a shifted balance of forces, whereby one god was banished and destroyed, his blood becoming a cursed admixture in human existence.

Regarding the Polar Signs, their role is to reflect the cosmic arrangement of the universe, linking specific regions of the sky with divine forces and particular planetary attributes. For instance, the distribution of planets and signs clarifies which aspects of divine will and cosmic order “reside” in given sectors of the sky:

“Abodes of the planets: Aries and Scorpio – the abode of Mars; Taurus and Libra – Venus; Gemini and Virgo – Mercury; Cancer – the Moon; Leo – the Sun; Sagittarius and Pisces – Jupiter; Capricorn and Aquarius – Saturn. Heights: Aries – the Sun; Taurus – the Moon; Cancer – Jupiter; Virgo – Mars; Libra – Saturn; Capricorn – Mercury; Pisces – Venus.” (source: link txt)

This astronomical picture became an integral part of mythological thought, in which celestial signs embodied cosmic order and the peculiar influence of the divine on the world. In this context, the Polar Signs act as markers of that order, indicating where and how divine forces shape human destinies. Thus, the confrontation between humans and gods originated from a fundamental mythological drama, wherein the very creation of humanity is burdened with divine blood, and the celestial sign system serves as a constant reminder of the eternal conflict and the ongoing effort to restore the balance of forces.
