Spiritual Silence: Cleansing the Inner Communication Channel
The expression “channel of communication with the SOURCE” should be understood as an inner, spiritual stream through which a person can perceive higher revelations and divine insights. This channel is not part of the material or everyday consciousness, but rather a state of the soul open to communicating with that which exceeds ordinary perception. However, in order for this channel to deliver clear and truthful messages, it must be cleared of everyday noise, vain thoughts, and passions that distort true perception.Remaining in silence helps one achieve a state of inner calm, when the mind is freed from an excessive number of thoughts and emotions. As one of the sources states:"Silence is the state of a mind untroubled by thoughts, the quiet of freedom from passions and the comfort of the soul; it is the heart’s abiding presence in God, unperturbed and unconquerable, bright contemplation, the understanding of God’s mysteries, the word of wisdom from a pure mind, the abyss of God’s insights, the exultation of the mind, the conversation with God, the unceasing watchful eye, the wise prayer, the effortless peace amid great labors, and finally, the union and communion with God." Moreover, a similar idea is underscored in the advice regarding external noise:"Silence and the scorching midday sun reveal the sailor’s patience, and the lack of worldly needs displays the patience of the silent one. ... Shut the door of the cell for the body, the door of the mouth for conversations, and the inner door of the soul for deceitful spirits." (source: link txt, page: 20)Here it is emphasized that external conversations and unnecessary words can infiltrate the soul and contaminate the channel intended for communication with the higher source. Thus, spending time in silence becomes a necessary condition for cleansing one’s inner state: it allows one to disconnect from the daily hustle and bustle and focus on spiritual matters, ensuring the purity of perception and the possibility of establishing genuine contact with the SOURCE.
