The Cosmic Cost of Individualism
Abandoning the universal meaning of existence within individualism means losing the connection with a broader cosmic content that gives personality depth and fullness. Such identification of a person solely with narrow, egocentric interests results in the impoverishment of personality, depriving it of creative and universal dimensions. In this case, the individual, in striving to liberate himself from the world and the cosmos, is as if convulsively trying to escape external values but, instead of achieving freedom, ends up in a state of self-enslavement.As noted in one statement, "This is a demonic self-deception. In reality, individualism denies that a person is a microcosm and that his states are cosmic. Individualism is the emptying of individuality, its impoverishment, the diminishment of its worldly content—that is, a deviation toward non-being. An individuality that has achieved absolute separation and alienation from the universe, from the hierarchy of living beings, would turn into non-being, annihilated without a trace. Individuality and individualism are opposites. Individualism is the enemy of individuality. Man is an organic member of the global, cosmic hierarchy, and the richness of his content is directly proportional to his connection with the cosmos. And a person's individuality finds its fullest expression only in universal, cosmic life. Individuality within individualism is contentless, empty. Freedom in individualism is merely a painful spasm." (source: link txt)A similar situation is further illustrated: when an individualist attempts to free himself from the world, he distances himself from cosmic connections, which in turn leads to self-alienation and the emptying of his own personality. The lack of a universal cosmic content in such an approach deprives a person of the opportunity to assert himself creatively and spiritually, and his subjective "self" gradually disintegrates, giving way to vacuity and enslavement by external forces. Thus, the rejection of the universal meaning of existence in individualism leads to a loss of the foundation, depth, and capacity for self-expression in personality, ultimately resulting in its emptying.Supporting citation(s):"This is a demonic self-deception.
