When the Supernatural Vanishes: Redefining Culture and Belief
In the absence of supernatural phenomena, much of what has permeated human history and worldview would be radically transformed. For instance, if beings from a parallel world—who influence people through telepathy, telekinesis, levitation, and other phenomena—were not involved, not only would the explanations for various parapsychological effects vanish, but many symbols that served as the basis for understanding good and evil would also disappear. This would mean that culture, religious worldview, and value systems would undergo profound changes, since many questions about the meaning of life, suffering, and the fate of the world have been linked to the manifestation of the supernatural. As noted in one of the sources, "All the imagination-striking public effects of telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation, psychokinesis (for example, the deformation of objects, the stopping of clocks, etc.), levitation, walking on burning coals, and other physical, psychophysical, and biophysical phenomena are performed either directly by beings from a parallel world... or through these very intermediaries" (source: link txt). From this, it is evident that the disappearance of such phenomena would result in the loss of one of the important mechanisms through which the inexplicable has traditionally been explained.Furthermore, in the Christian worldview, an important element in the historical and spiritual division between good and evil is the synthesis of the supernatural and the natural, vividly embodied in the person of Christ. One text states, "Through invisible pre-electrons and photons, this mysterious transfusion of luminous, logos-based forces of the God-Word into the human being occurs. In reality, there are no clear boundaries between the supernatural and the natural, between the visible and the invisible..." (source: link txt). Without the supernatural, this synthesis would vanish—there would be no unseen layer uniting the divine with the earthly, and consequently, the nature of religious experience and the interpretation of existence would change.Additionally, a significant component of the cultural and moral framework of traditional societies is the idea of a struggle between angels and demons, where supernatural forces are endowed with the ability to influence human actions. As it is said, "He views world events with the confident gaze of a thinker, for whom the mechanics of societal existence pose no mystery: the forces and springs driving human life are clear to him. Two worlds oppose and battle each other in order to secure the triumph of their irreconcilable principles of good and evil. The combatants are angels and demons..." (source: link txt). The absence of this concept could lead to a rethinking of moral foundations and sources of inspiration, which, in turn, would affect the structure of social relations and the understanding of ethics. Thus, if supernatural phenomena were absent, the world would become decidedly more rational. The explanation of many phenomena and the interpretation of life events would be based solely on objective physical and material laws, while the deep symbolism that unites notions of good and evil, the connection with the divine, and the spiritual dimension of human life would lose its traditional foundations.Supporting citation(s):"Given all of the above, as well as the repeatedly demonstrated direct connection between the emergence of any paranormal abilities in humans... after all, in the entire span of human life on Earth, there has never been a period when people were free from the influence of beings from a parallel world."
